That was the same situation I was in about two decades ago. VT was not "off limits," but I ended up away from Blacksburg and it worked out well for me.

Of course, I had plenty of friends who went to VT after growing up in Blacksburg and it has worked out well for most of them also.

Best of luck to her - my Dad was big on Davidson when we visited because of the free laundry service. Not sure if that is still a thing or not? We visited Elon when my sister was looking and I liked it quite a bit.
